A 6.3 magnitude earthquake with epicenter 43 km southwest of the city of Bengkulu on Sumatra Island, Indonesia, with no casualties and no tsunami warning issued hit at least 100 houses, including less than half with major damages, and caused minor injures of some inhabitants on Friday, May 23, 2025, early in the morning, www.aa.com.tr confirmed quoting the Indonesian state news agency Antara.
Bengkulu, the capital of the Indonesian province of Bengkulu and the second largest city on the west coast of Sumatra Island after Padang, covers an area of 151.70 km2 and had a population of 391,117, as of mid-2023.
