CIRCULAR LETTER

Dear brothers and sisters,

“All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.” Psalms 86:9

We pray this letter finds you with a willing heart to worship God through song and praise for the World Assembly Public Conference in Cajamarca, Peru, August 2-5, 2023! In preparation for the Public Conference, the General Conference has created a Music Committee made up of sisters Caress Prado, Sunny Kang, Melite Hunger, and Jaqueline Hunger, under the leadership of Br. Samuel Segura. These brethren are professional musicians and leaders of music departments for our Unions around the world.

Through this letter, the General Conference and the Music Committee would like to extend the invitation of participation in music and praises during this event! We recognize that music is of great importance in worshiping our creator, and that many of you desire to participate during the conference. We thus present to you the organized means to register your participation as a group, choir, ensemble, or other musical entity. Additionally, a separate registration is provided for the International Choir and Orchestra that will be specifically created for this event.

Please bear in mind the following rules and guidelines for registering a participation:

  2. The members of the groups that will participate in the event must comply with all our church appearance guidelines in terms of dress, hair, behavior, and order.  The use of jewelry, makeup, hair dye, or nail polish on participants is not allowed.  These standards must be guaranteed by the person in charge of each group.  It is requested that the participants  preferably be members of the IMS church (baptized).
  3. Maximum 3 participations per registration. Specify Name, Author, and Running time of individual song performance. (It is recommended to have 2 official participations and 1 backup).
  4. For international groups, specify the date and time of your arrival at the conference grounds.
  5. In the participation registration, specify the total number of individuals in your group, and classify them by family of instruments or voice classification.
  6. If using a track/audio for your participation, it must be submitted and APPROVED by the General Conference executive committee and music committee beforehand (instructions in registration).
  7. The music presented should not have danceable rhythms, but should be hymns presented in a sacred and solemn way.
  8. Only the provided piano at the conference grounds provided by the Peruvian Union will be available for official use.
  9. The copyright information (author name, publisher, and a written permission of use) of each separate song must be presented and uploaded in the registration.
  10. In order to achieve better organization and technical arrangement, the sound engineers have requested not to allow the participation of groups that are not registered in advance.
  11. Participating musicians must take part in all the programs, from the beginning of the conference to the end according to the date of their arrival if international, respecting the schedule for each day.
  12. Participation Registration Deadline: June 1, 2023.

International Choir and Orchestra

We are pleased to share that an international choir and orchestra will specifically be created for this World Assembly Public Conference! The Orchestra will accompany the international choir in one of their special songs, and will be made up of strings, woodwinds, brass, and piano. To participate in the International Orchestra, an instrumentalist is required to have an intermediate-advanced level of proficiency in their instrument.

It is an indispensable requirement to be a (baptized) member of the IMS to participate in the International Choir and Orchestra.

In the registration form of the International Choir and Orchestra, you will find more details about the repertoire, scores, and audios of the hymns that are going to be performed.
