Two souls, two sisters in the faith of Jesus, were baptized recently in Indonesia and added to the Indonesian Field at the IMS, Sister Marinita Lumowa announced on her Facebook profile on Sunday, Mach 8, 2026. Pastor Hens Karinda performed the baptisms. On Sabbath, March 7, 2026, the daily temperature in Indonesia varied between 23 and 26 degrees Celsius, the typical one for the wet season, which could be regarded, of course, as the perfect weather for a Christian baptism.
Comprising over 17 000 islands, including Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, and parts of Borneo and New Guinea, Indonesia, officially the Republic of Indonesia, a country in southeast Asia and Oceania, between the Indian and Pacific oceans, is the world's largest archipelagic state and the 14th largest country by area with its territory of 1,904,569 square kilometers (735,358 square miles). The name Indonesia contains two Greek words – indos (Ἰνδός) and nesos (νῆσος), meaning 'Indian islands'. In 1949, Indonesia gained its independence from the Netherlands. Indonesia, whose population reached 284,438,782 inhabitants last year, is rich in abundant commodities such as coal, nickel, petroleum, and natural gas, while its agricultural sector is known for products like palm oil, coffee, and spices.
