A profound analysis on the nature of sin was presented yesterday, on November 24, 2025, by Pastor Tzvetan Petkov, GC President at the IMS, during the traditional Q&A session published via YouTube and Facebook: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXHyhBFJDCM. Pastor Douglas Francis, Counselor of the General Conference President at the IMS, was the moderator of the event.
In his presentation, Pastor Tzvetan Petkov underlined the biblical truth that the sin was a violation of the Ten Commandments of God, and the fact that all sinful practices were not mentioned in the Ten Commandments did not mean that they were allowed, because eating unhealthy foods, for instance, was a transgression of the sixth commandment “You shall not murder”. In addition, Pastor Tzvetan Petkov emphasized that God did not create the sin, but Satan was the originator of the sin, and only the supernatural power of God in Christ could restore us from our sinful condition provoked by our sinful nature. It is impossible for us to explain the origin of the sin, but we are able to analyze the consequences and the variants of the sin: one could sin unconsciously or consciously, and the righteousness of Christ covers the sins committed without knowledge about them, Pastor Tzvetan Petkov confirmed. Furthermore, Pastor Tzvetan Petkov specified that “God made man upright” (Ecclesiastes 7:29) and “God is not tempted by evil, and he himself doesn't tempt anyone” (James 1:13). Through the Holy Spirit, we have all chances to overcome the sin and to have victory over all known sins even after the end of the time of grace, Pastor Petkov summarized.
