A profound lesson on the Christian gift of tongues was given by Pastor Tzvetan Petkov, General Conference President at the IMS, on Monday, June 16, 2025, during the traditional Q&A session held at the IMS and transmitted via YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoUvuasjGfI. Pastor Douglas Francis, Counselor of the General Conference President at the IMS, was the moderator of the event.
Pastor Tzvetan Petkov explained the main criterion God underlined regarding the proper use of different tongues during God’s service: “Let all things be done unto edifying.” (1 Corinthians 14:26, last part). In addition, Pastor Tzvetan Petkov emphasized the difference between the wonder worked by the Holy Spirit on the Feast of Pentecost (Acts 2:6-8) and the gift of the tongues which included the human effort to learn the languages as well. As of the tongues of angels (1 Corinthians 13:1), the biblical truth was mentioned that any sample of tongue of angels was not reported in the Holy Scriptures of, but the angels of the Lord used all the tongues of men, in order to reveal God’s messages to every human being in need.
Furthermore, the revelation was repeated that the gift of the tongues should be used together with the gift of interpretation of tongues, in order to reach God’s purpose regarding understanding, order and love serving all the parts of Christ’s body (1 Corinthians 14:5).
