Beloved families in Christ:
Greetings with Psalm 127:1, 2 “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth His beloved sleep.”
Family is one of the most precious things God has given us; it is worth watching over at all times.
“Society is composed of families, and is what the heads of families make it. Out of the heart are ‘the issues of life’ (Proverbs 4:23); and the heart of the community, of the church, and of the nation is the household. The well-being of society, the success of the church, the prosperity of the nation, depend upon home influences.” —The Ministry of Healing, p. 349.
The foundation of strong churches is the result of families committed to unity in Christ.
We would like to thank all those who sent their letters of invitation and suggestions to the Family Department. By the grace of God and the unity of all, we will do our best to fulfill the goals set for the next five years.
Here are some plans that we would like to communicate to you:
1. It is established that the month of May of each year should be dedicated to the family.
a) A Family Week of Prayer will be held.
b) The material for the realization of this plan will be made available to the fields in advance by the Family Department.
2. One visit on a continent every year as decided by the General Conference Committee.
a) Taking advantage of this visit, we will schedule it in such a way that two or more neighboring countries are visited, where family seminars and couples meetings will be held.
3. Publication of materials about the family.
a) For the year 2019 we will publish a premarital course for guidance to those considering marriage, to be given by Pastors or qualified persons with the objective that nobody should get married without completing this course. This course is being prepared by the Youth and Family Departments.
b) Publication of a devotional about family for the year 2021. It has as a goal to guide and feed families on a daily basis.
c) Publication of family booklets and pamphlets.
4. Publication of videos about family topics from 2019 on social networks.
5. Modernization of the web page.
a) If possible, all articles and guidelines should be available on this page in written form and as videos.
b) A list of family counselors with their contact information in different languages will be posted for consultation in case of need.
Other projects, activities and needs that arise during this period in the Family Department, will be announced in advance.
All leaders are asked to inform the churches around the world about these projects.
We remain open to your suggestions, concerns and above all your prayers in favor of this Department and of all our families.
May the blessing of the Lord reach every family that will be part of God’s great call on that glorious day. Amen.
